We started
Whiplock more than a decade ago because of a two-ton bicycle lock.
Well actually it was only 2.5 lbs. (felt like two tons!), but if
you've ever done any touring, long-distance trips, racing, or even
casual riding around town, you know what we're talking about: in
order to protect your bike from theft when unattended-- even if
you're just stopping for a quick snack or restroom break-- you need
to secure it with a lock heavy enough to sink a battleship.
The fact
is, most bicycle theft is grab-and-run. A thief sees the opportunity
and acts on it. In many of these cases, since they're not pre-meditated,
the thief is not even equipped with bolt cutters. We developed Whiplock
to protect the overwhelming majority of cyclists who simply need
to protect their bikes from grab-and-run theft without lugging around
heavy locks and chains, or taking up valuable frame space.
Curt
Johnson, CEO (email: johnson@whiplock.com)
|
A
touring enthusiast, Curt lugged a several-pound lock around
with him for four months along the French Riviera before deciding,
"Enough is enough!" The resulting Whiplock design
is now patented, and one of the most unique and effective
bicycle products available. As an eagle scout, long-time inventor,
and graduate in education from San Diego State University,
Curt's love for devising better ways of doing things--and
then teaching others about them-- is the driving force behind
Whiplock's continuing mission..." To put the fun back
into recreational bicycling through education and security-oriented
equipment."

Judy Kropf, E.A., Chief Financial Officer ( email: kropf@Whiplock.com
)
|
Judy
has over twenty years experience in accounting- specializing
in bookkeeping and tax preparation. In addition, she has earned
the coveted designation "Enrolled Agent", by passing
stringent testing, a application process, and subjecting herself
to not only a background investigation, but continued professional
education. Because of the difficulty in becoming enrolled
and maintaining that enrollment, there are fewer than 35,000
Enrolled Agents in the United States. Judy's responsibilities
encompass all aspects of Whiplock's financials. Every expenditure
over $100.00 must be approved by Judy! Can you see where she
got her sobriquet- "Mom"?
